Homesteaded in 1846 by Carlson family, the Door County Wildwood Market is a true century farm. They have been harvesting cherries by hand since the first trees were planted in 1915. Mark and Mary Pat Carlson (the current owners) have added a farmers market to the property so visitors could pick some of their own cherries and purchase some Door County goods. Its not just any ordinary store either. Mark Carlson lovingly restored a building originally built in 1940 that was used to house migrant workers who harvested the cherry crops. In 1945 when traveling was limited due to gas rations the solution was to bring German prisoners of war to Door County to harvest the cherries for one season. Those prisoners stayed in the very building that is now used as Carlson's farmers market. Come check out this historic farm and building while also taking home some Door County goods. They sell fresh produce, bakery, sweets, jams, pickled goods, and more!
